Our Competition and Consumer Law Team has specialist skills in competition and consumer protection issues and has experience in acting for clients before the Seychelles Fair Trading Commission:  Dr. Jolicoeur, a Consultant of our Competition Team is former Commissioner and Chairman of the Seychelles Fair Trading Commission and offers you the benefit of his extensive experience at the highest levels of the Fair Trading Commission.

Competition Law

Our team offers clients experience, expertise and commonsense in dealing with the full spectrum of trade practices including:

Review: Studying structural changes in businesses in Seychelles, whether by acquisition, merger or other divestment, to ascertain the competition impact in the relevant markets
Recommend: The obtaining of merger clearance in order to avoid costly notification process.
Notify: We prepare notification, liaise with the Fair Trading Commission and obtain necessary clearance for the merger.
Challenge: We file objections on behalf of clients against mergers notified which could result in a substantial lessening of competition.
Business priorities: We strive to balance the commercial needs of the client with a need for legal and economic compliance and certainty.

Cartels and abuse of dominance

Advise: We review and advise on all aspects of competition law issues in Seychelles and provide businesses with practical and commercial solutions to any competition concern.
Applying for guidance or decision: We obtain guidance and decisions from the Fair Trading Commission in relation to joint ventures, co-operation agreements and other forms of business alliances.
Leniency applications: We draw up leniency applications for clients and file them with the Fair Trading Commission.
Infringements: We defend allegations of infringements of competition law in Seychelles whether of cartels or abuse of dominance.
Complaints: We prepare and lodge complaints with the Fair Trading Commission on behalf of clients.
